Monica Esposito (55) was one of the victims of the car-ramming attack on 16 May 2026 in central Modena (via Emilia Centro / largo Porta Bologna). Salim El Koudri drove a car into a group of pedestrians, injuring eight. Monica was walking with her husband, Angelo Ciccarelli, when she was hit; among the most severely injured, the car pressed her against a wall. She suffered catastrophic injuries, including the loss of both legs, and never regained consciousness.
